On April 27 at Harmony Hill, overlooking Hood Canal, in Union WA, Turning Pointe Domestic Violence Services is once again sponsoring an art show/auction. This is Turning Pointe's major fundraiser for the year, as well as a chance for South Puget Sound artist to really shine. Being relatively new to the area this is going to be the first year that I participate in this show/auction/fundraiser. I will be donating a painting I did of my grandson's first school bus ride ... I've tried to capture the look of innocent anticipation and excitement on his face that I saw that day. This watercolor painting I think is appropriate to the show in the fact that so many young children are effected by domestic violence and innocence lost. The call to artists quoted 13 domestic - violence related fatalities in the past two years in our county alone ... how very sad. I hope my painting brings enough money to the services to help in some way.
It's a wonderful picture, and you must get a warm feeling in knowing you are supporting such a worthwhile cause.
ReplyDeleteThank you Diane, it was such a fun piece to work on and I've had mixed emotion's on if I should really "give" it away. But... I think I'm doing the right thing and someone will see the same thing I saw in it and want to bid on it... and bring in enough money to help someone. I hope anyway.
ReplyDeleteI think you captured the anxious anticipation very well! You're such a pro with water color.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful painting for a wonderful cause.
ReplyDeleteWow this is beautiful. As well as capturing that anticipation and innocence ofthe child the techinical skills here are amazing. I love the glass of the window; how you did that I'm not sure? Amazing.
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous painting Nancy, such wonderful colour and composition and the expression on his face is so expressive.
