White Orchid, 6" x 6" oil on panel, © 2012, Nancy Van Blaricom
Having not forgotten my attempts at painting an orchid a while back I decided to try it once more.
This time I decided on a 6" x 6" format and cropped my original drawing to eliminate all but a couple of the flowers and focus was on the top one.
Most of the comments I received on the last orchid said I had too much middle value .... I think I like this one better because I don't have as much middle value, what do you think?
I'm calling my love affair with the orchid over ... for now.
Hi Nancy,
ReplyDeleteThank you for the nice comment on my blog. Just wanted to tell you I adore your orchid painting. There is just something about a beautiful simple design painting in a monochromatic style.. So much to learn by doing this. You pulled it off beautifully.
It's a very good painting now, and the framing is spot on. Nice work.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Nancy. I went back and looked at your other post on this Orchid and this one here is superb.
ReplyDeleteThis orchid is lovely, Nancy. It has an elegant quality about it, and the frame is perfect. No, don't give up... keep at it!!!
ReplyDeleteLovely! I too, like this as a closeup in monochrome. As they say, simple is usually better!
