In preperation for a couple of holiday bazaar's I'm going to be involved in, I've been working on some small bird paintings. One show is on the 29th of November here on the Island, and the other is a larger two day event starting with First Friday the following week on both the 5th and 6th.

They look wonderful Nancy. Hope you have some great shows this holiday.
ReplyDeleteThese are fantastic, Nancy!! How do you find the smaller works -- in some ways they're more difficult than the larger aren't they??
ReplyDeleteHi Nancy!
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful -- I love Heron's! They're so awkward, yet strangely graceful -- and always much bigger than you'd imagine.
Thanks Toni. I've just recently found out about the last one...but it should be fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lin. I like working small ... guess it's because I love detail.
Hey WJ... where ya been? I've missed you. Thank you... the herons appear prehistoric don't they? And they sound even stranger.
These are really beautiful! Blue Herons are just my favorite birds ... you've done a wonderful job with these! They will be snatched up in no time, I'll bet!
ReplyDeleteThank you Linda. Heron's are so unique aren't they? After painting these, I think I do like them, so its one of those series I don't really mind if they sell or not. But... cash is always a good thing ;-)
ReplyDeleteShea, thanks for stopping by. Some times it just seems to come together and other times its like pulling teeth. Lately I've been using a task list because of the shows that are coming up. Such as:
.draw heron on 5" x 5" paper
.mask out legs on heron (not really)
.paint general colors on heron....... etc.
Anyway every step for a project is another task and it seems less of a chore if I break it down into small steps so then I accomplish more. Anyway it has been working that way, but now I'm feeling like I'm getting back into my procrastination way of doing things. ICK!
These are delightful. Your compositions are perfect, and you paint so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteNancy, these are just stunning! You captured them so beautifully. They're such elegant creatures and you conveyed that wonderfully here.

ReplyDeleteI'm feeling the urge to get my paints out ever so slightly to make imagery for Holiday cards.
Thank you so much all of you. I sincerely appreciate all your comments on these paintings. I am working on one more small one - I'll try to post it later this week.
