December 21st, Winter Solstice

This is the north end of the island- Harstine Island

This first photo is from the very north end of the island, looking toward the main land and a couple of other islands.
From the aprox. same location as yesterday

The second photo is from about he same spot yesterdays photo was taken from.

snow from our front door

And the last photo is looking out our front door and you can see the snow that accumulated on the red chairs and the top of our fence. When I measured our snow accumulation I found aprox. 6 inches on my deck.
This is Winter Solstice!

  1. I love the painting you did of the snow with all of the colors. You should do another one based on your photos! I know just the person to give it to too! :) hint hint....

  2. Be careful what you wish for. Right now the snow is not inspiring me to paint, *wink. Thanks for the suggestion, maybe I'll do that, maybe a series of bright cheerful snow paintings.

  3. Looks like its just as nasty in your neck of the woods, as it is in Ohio. Thankfully, we didn't have much snow yet, but its been bitter cold since Thanksgiving. Ice storm last night, but its supposed to be up in the 50-60's today and the next couple days.

Have a wonderful Christmas and thanks for all your nice comments on my blog.

  7. Snow!

Thanks for sharing your snow, Nancy! My air conditioner is running, so it seems we're having a very opposite type of winter.

I blogged about the solstice, too, but from a very different perspective.

Here's hoping that Christmas on the island has been cozy and wonderful!

No white Christmas here in Denver :(

Hope you and your family had a terrific holiday!

  9. Thank you all for your comments on this post. It has been fun, yet by the time it left we were all getting a little tired of it. Our Christmas with family was postponed by a day with the snow issues, but all in all it was a beautiful holiday.
