The holiday's are upon us.....

Poinsettia - Nancy Van Blaricom

I think you can always tell that the holiday's are right around the corner because the Christmas bazaars start. This last Saturday I participated in my first ever holiday bazaar. While I was a little frazzled trying to get ready for this it wasn't bad at all once I had enough prints, cards and originals complete and ready for the public. The only thing was that not a lot of public showed up.

This is a small 5" x 7" Poinsettia I painted in preparation of the holiday's.

This next one is a little larger. Approximately 6" x 18". I have cropped it in the scanner just so it is doesn't look that large. Both look so pretty in gold frames. Red, Red, Red - Nancy Van Blaricom

With my first bazaar behind me I am now concentrating on a commission I agreed to do as a surprise gift.

  5. Thanks Lin, Jafabrit, Ronell and Casey. Just when I am feeling in a slump my friends come through for me. The first painting started out large ... it was going to be a close up of the face of a poinsettia ... after a bit I could tell it just wasn't going well, so I told my self to stop and crop. I guess when you know these little things about your own work you some how feel part of you didn't come through. Oh well, the lemon makes a great lemon pie... *wink.

  7. Thank you Carol Lee... Nice you spoke up. I really enjoy the feed back of all my art endeavour's. At one time I gave family members a cookbook (my favorite recipes) sprinkled with watercolors of diff. foods included in the recipe. I love painting the small watercolor still lifes. It's fun to do that kind of thing for kitchen's.

  12. Wow! These are gorgeous. I don't get too into the holidays but maybe it's because I haven't tried painting pointsetias. It looks like it would be hard to be grinch when faced with such brilliant color. Thanks for the inspiration!
